Brief Talk Episode 2 - Who is Everyday Lingerie Co & what we stand for?

Who is Everyday Lingerie Co & what we stand for?

Welcome to episode two of Brief Talk, proudly brought to you by Everyday Lingerie Co. And I'm your host, Danielle Sady. I hope, by now, you've had a good chance to have a look at episode one and really get to know myself, and where ELC came from, and why I've started this journey. In episode two, we're going to delve into more about the who and what is Everyday Lingerie Co, or ELC, as I refer to it.

So I started Everyday Lingerie Co because I couldn't find underwear to suit my needs. I wanted something that was comfortable, that I could go about going to work, being at home, going out on a date, whatever it may be, and feel like I had nothing on. I wanted something that felt supportive. So if I was feeling a bit bloated or yuck that day, that it would actually hold me in and make me feel a bit svelte, is a word I like to use, but also was a little bit sexy. I didn't want something to happen like a Bridget Jones moment. I wanted to feel really good within the skin I'm in, and I also wanted something that was really breathable. Because I wanted to be able to go from work to the gym, or anything in between, get active and actually still have something really breathable on. So, hence the reason why we have focused on bamboo underwear within the Everyday Lingerie Co range.

I learned about bamboo coming from the bedding industry. It was something that was being woven into the top panels of beds to help actually disperse heat and moisture in bedding. So, as I said in episode one, it really is amazing how everything you do can tend to have an impact later in life. So I'm super grateful to the bedding industry for teaching me about the benefits of bamboo fabric. So, the range, the main range we offer is our everyday underwear. As I said, it's bamboo underwear and it is Australian made. Whilst it didn't start that way, we did start manufacturing overseas initially, but when the pandemic hit, I was able to get the opportunities to work with some amazing Australian fabric mills and manufacturers to, actually, move everything from Everyday Lingerie Co onto Australian shores.

So our range, we offer three styles, a brief, a boyleg and a G string. They come in sizes 8 to 22, and they're all made up of these heavy duty, quality, premium, sustainably sourced, bamboo fabric. It's got amazing moisture weakening antibacterial qualities to it. It's all about healthier down there. So, as I said, we currently range sizes 8 to 22 in those three styles, coming in black with the black matching chevron trim, or white with the matching chevron trim. The elastic is an elastic, it doesn't have bamboo woven in that, but it's all about giving you something a little bit different for that top section. And we do sit mid to high rise, depending on your body shape. The underwear has all been designed with those three principles, comfort, support, and breathability. So I want you to go about your day doing exactly what you want to do.

So we also have some limited edition colors we're starting to filter through at the moment. We started with the rainbow tie dye. And again, we're working with an amazing company called Sunny Daisy Tie Dye. I just love Amelia, the owner of that business's story, and her passion for tie dye and what it brings. So it seemed like a great fit that both of our values and our business, and personally, aligned so we should work together. We also have a warehouse sale, so we have some older stock that didn't quite make the cut. When we talk about a warehouse sale, we're talking about products in our range that didn't quite make the cut. So it could be the stitching's not quite straight, there's a little bit of gathering, there could be a flaw in the fabric. They're still functioning pieces, but we didn't feel that they met the quality standards that ELC really stand for, so it is available at a cheaper price per piece.

So, we have those gray with the black chevron elastic trim also available. Again, they're all made from bamboo fabric, really breathable, allowing you to go about, whether you're a busy mom, a corporate person, whether you're just in your active wear every day, because we are in a pandemic and a lot of people are stuck at home, so we're choosing to wear things that are a bit more comfortable in our daily lives. So whatever style you're after, we offer all three. The G string is one that I'm really passionate about. It's actually my favourite pair. It is the reason why I started the range. I like to wear G strings every day, even when I was pregnant. For me, it's really about having no visible panty lines, about having something, I find it makes me feel really sexy in it, as well. And it just gives me that comfort. So, whether I'm in trackies, or I'm in jeans, or I'm in slacks, it gives me that comfort and support, because it also does come up midrise, so it allows me to hold everything in that I don't want hanging out.

We also have a range of four body mist fragrances. So if you're looking for something that is a little bit different to a full-bodied perfume, we created this range and they've all got their own personality. So we've got Aria, Leilani, Gazania and Oceana. And they're all derived talking about the different elements, earth, wind, fire, that sort of thing. And they all have their own story. Oceana's about going to the beach and smelling the sand and the smell of the sea coming towards you. Whereas, Gazania is more about springtime when the flowers are in full bloom and you've got a really floral scent. If you want something a little bit sweeter, Aria would be your go-to girl. Really simple, 100 ml, they're actually air pumped, so they're not an aerosol spray. They're water-based, and all made in Australia from 100% Australian ingredients. So I would love for you to check out and meet the girls in the ELC range, as well.

And we also have lingerie wash bags. We would always recommend, with any lingerie you buy, whether it's everyday pieces, your bras, your crops, anything that you purchase from anyone, you wash in lingerie wash bags. They're designed to help your delicates extend their life. On a delicate cycle in a cold wash with minimal detergent is the best way to always wash your underwear. It’s just, as I said, prolongs the life and really gives the benefit to the garments to, really, be able to then, love you back as much as they can. When we created the range of body mist fragrances and the wash bags, that was really about having something, as well, where we could give back, again, to our community. So, with some of the proceeds from both of these items, we actually give a percentage back to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. And being October, at the moment, it is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. So we will talk to you a bit more about what we do, and what they're working towards, with their zero deaths by 2030 that they're working on.

So, we've also got other things happening in the pipeline, at the moment. Things have stalled a little bit with new pieces coming out. And for those of you who've been quick enough to notice it, we have showcased one of our pieces already on social media, that we're working on, and that's our crop top. So it's made from the same bamboo fabric and it's finished with the chevron elastic trim, as well, under bust. It is a wire-free piece and it's all about offering something that compliments the underwear that's already there. So if you like a matchy-matchy set, these will be a go for you. We also have our anti-chafe shorts that will be coming in. So, similar top of the garment to what the brief and the boyleg, and G string already are, but they'll give you that little bit of length. So under a skirt, dress, someone who needs something that just takes away that little bit of roughness in those warmer months. And we're working on a shrug jumper.

All of these pieces are in development, and we were hoping to have them launch by September this year. That didn't happen. We didn't know, when we were designing them, that we would be in the middle of this pandemic and lockdowns, and all these things would be occurring. So we are still working on them. We're working through the lockdowns, the minimal staff levels that manufacturing's had, we're working through production of fabrics. So there's a whole lot of elements that all have to come together for this to work for us. So we will keep you posted, let you know how things are going, but we're almost there with the crops. And we can't wait. I know so many people are already waiting on them, and we will keep you up to date on our socials about them. And hopefully we'll have some great news in the coming months.

The other thing, with everything we do in the range is, as we said before, we're all about the Australia made. Our wash bags have come out of an overseas manufacturer, because we could not find anyone to manufacture them here in Australia with the pricing, et cetera, to actually suit. So, unfortunately, the first round of them, yes, it did come from overseas, but everything else you see within our range now, if it's a body mist, a pair of underwear, everything is done onshore, which I'm super proud of. As we said, we're really about supporting local, being Australia made, and also being that Photoshop-free brand. So, hopefully, this covers a bit more detail about the brand. If you want to hear more about the specific pieces, talking about the brief, the G string, the boyleg, I'll be, actually, posting some additional stories to talk through each one of those pieces in the coming weeks, and showcase where they sit and how they work with different body shapes and sizes, and how they'll work under outfits, all of that in coming episodes.

So we'd love to hear more about your favorite style. Is it the brief? Is it the boyleg? Is it the G string? And why? Everyone's got such a unique take on it. Briefs are the number one selling piece of underwear in the world. It's incredible, that is the go-to piece, normally, for everyone. And then G string and boyleg can come in equal second or third, depending on who's voting, which is really cool. They're quite unique to the individual who feels like wearing what. Thanks so much for joining us for episode two. We hope you've got a better insight into who Everyday Lingerie Co is, and what we're all about. We'd love to hear about what your favorite style is, and if you've tried our ELC bamboo underwear yet. Or if you've tried bamboo underwear, we want to hear about that too, and how much you loved it.

Trying to find the right underwear size can be difficult due to different companies making different sizes. To make things easier we have created a step by step guide to take the guess work out of the equation.

Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.

Finding your size in our Underwear Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.  If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.

Measurement 1: Your waist

Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 2: Your Lower Waist

Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist.  Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 3: Your hips

Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.

Finding your size in our Crop Top Bralette Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your Full Bust and your Lower or under bust. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.
