Where can I buy Australian Made Bamboo Underwear?

At Everyday Lingerie Co, we pride ourselves on not only ensuring that our underwear covers our three design principles – comfort, support and breathability – but from the beginning of this journey, we wanted to ensure we worked with ethical manufacturers and used sustainable materials within our garments. Knowing who made our garments has always been just as important to us as who is wearing it.

Initially, the dream had been to be a 100% Australian-made underwear brand, but we ran into difficulty finding the right suppliers and manufacturers on our shore, so we headed overseas to bring our Everyday Lingerie Co bamboo underwear to life.

Of course, finding the right manufacturing partner proved just as complicated as finding the right pair of smalls (until ELC came along, of course). It took us a number of years just to find the best one for our underwear ahead of our launch in August 2019.  We were so excited to work with a company that valued their employees and the environment as much as we do, but unfortunately, in early March 2020 we saw some issues with the manufacturing of our garments.  Sadly, we knew we couldn’t put our trust in this factory moving forward, as we couldn’t guarantee the quality garments our customers expected from us.

At the same time a global pandemic hit, throwing a bit of a spanner in the works, causing so much disruption and uncertainty around the world for people, both personally and professionally. For our team, we knew that this would potentially delay the new stock dropping into our warehouse, but we would not settle for close enough – our garments needed to be of the highest quality.

So, in April that year, we commenced a worldwide search for new suppliers and manufacturers; spending months getting samples of every raw material and sampling garments to see who we could work with. Eventually we came across some amazing suppliers for our raw materials and a new manufacturer, but this time they were right in our own backyard – finally, Everyday Lingerie Co could proudly share that we would be producing Australian-made, owned, and designed bamboo underwear.

During this period, since our stock had sold out, we spent time taking all our customer feedback on board. This allowed us to make some small improvements to the patterns, upgrade the waist trim to a softer, more loving version and we now have an even more luxurious fabric for the main body of our underwear – we could not be more excited with the results.

We have now completed the final samples with our Everyday models and are currently in production with our Everyday Basic range of women’s brief, boyleg and G-string styles.  We will have the black and white basics; Brief and Boylegs back in stock first (Early May), then we will have the G-Strings following and a brand new style joining our range in the coming months, so watch this space!

Ethically, this has allowed us to ensure that we are reducing our carbon footprint by not sending numbers of samples back and forth, along with shipping large amounts of finished garments from overseas. Now we can put our planet first, along with being able to work closely with all our suppliers and spend the time meeting all the team members who have made our fabric, our care labels and our garments across from the cutting room and sew room teams.

We are super excited to share our Everyday Basic underwear range with you in the coming weeks –we know you will love it, as much as it will love you (and that gorgeous bod of yours!).

Sizing

Trying to find the right underwear size can be difficult due to different companies making different sizes. To make things easier we have created a step by step guide to take the guess work out of the equation.

Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.

Finding your size in our Underwear Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.  If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.

Measurement 1: Your waist

Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 2: Your Lower Waist

Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist.  Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 3: Your hips

Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.

Finding your size in our Crop Top Bralette Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your Full Bust and your Lower or under bust. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.

Measurement 1: Your Full Bust

Your Full Bust is the fullest part of your bust (see image). Ensure that the measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor. Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down

Measurement 2: Your Lower or Under Bust

The Lower or Under bust is measured by wrapping the measuring tape around your rib cage directly under your bust (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down
