Danielle: Today we're sitting down with the amazing and talented performer, highly skilled costume designer and manufacturer as well as proficient music editor and of course, half the team of HD Entertainment Studios in Melbourne, Dalena.
We wanted to sit down and have a chat with you obviously with the industry that you're in. You're exposed to so many different women. How do you find that, you know, for you and your body confidence, how has that been for you having to be out there?
Dalena: I guess, look, I was probably around 23, 24 when I kind of started really feeling confident within my own body. And I think getting jobs and things like that probably boosted my confidence. We do have younger dancers working with us as well. And they look fabulous anyway. I don't really need to do anything about that.
But I do probably tell them how fabulous they look all the time, which I think is important. But I think leading by example is probably the most important thing to me. If I'm ... I don't feel great all the time. Sometimes I'm bloated. Sometimes I just feel like crap, and I don't want to be in a costume.
Danielle: And that's it. That's how we are. Whether man or woman, I don't think it actually is gender specific. A lot of the time we talk about the women in this but there's men too. There are days when we all as human beings, we just don't feel our best.
Dalena: Yeah. It's really important if I stay positive about my body, and I tend to not complain about myself in front of dancers and things like that. I think that's really important. Because I want them to feel great about themselves and know that they look good no matter what.
Danielle: What's one piece of advice you could give to your younger self. What would it be?
Dalena: Okay. I would probably say go with the confidence. You kind of go in and out of the confidence stage.
Danielle: Especially in your 20s.
Dalena: You do. You go up and down. You don't know what's going on sometimes.
Danielle: You think you're so grown up.
Dalena: Yeah, you do. If I could chat to my younger self, I would love to have said, "You know what, you look great already. Just keep pushing. Keep going. Do what you love. Keep striving for more."
Danielle: Love that. All right. Gotta ask. Are you a G string, a brief, or a boyleg short girl?
Dalena: I've got to go G string. Well how else, the boyleg shorts under a [inaudible] outfit. How great are they?

Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.
All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate. If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.
Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist. Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.
