Over the years, we’ve seen technology advance to the point where we can now edit our appearance with only a few taps, swipes and pinches on our phones. We’re able to alter the way we look on without anyone even knowing, which many argue has led to a lot of women feeling down about themselves in comparison to the unrealistic images we’re being subjected to each day.
Of course, the lingerie industry has been particularly guilty of this for decades. Brands would smooth, slim and reshape the models wearing underwear in their campaigns, airbrushing away any perceived imperfections to sell us an unattainable ideal. That’s why when our founder Danielle Sady created Everyday Lingerie Co., it was extremely important to her that we represent women in all their incredible forms.
So, here’s our stance on Photoshop, including every step our images go through before you see them on your screen or in your feed.
“We are a 100% Photoshop-free brand,” says Danielle. “We are all about women showing their natural beauty and celebrating it.” That means we do not alter the women in our images in any way, shape or form.
“You can see from our photoshoots that some of the women have tan lines, and some of their feet are slightly dirty form walking around the studio all day,” Danielle explains. “Backgrounds can be edited in our images to ensure the lighting is correct, but never our stunning Everyday Women.”
Our philosophy is simple: we are for everyday, and for the everyday woman. “We want people to be able to visit our socials and website and see all different women, from different backgrounds, ages and especially body types,” Danielle says.
“We aim to help them see that everybody is beautiful and perfect just as they are – no size label on a garment can ever define them. We also hope that younger people can then identify that not one look is considered beautiful – you can be you, and shine!”
All our shoots feature beautiful Everyday Women who want to get involved because they love our brand and our mission. “Our two major photoshoots for our website have both been open calls,” says Danielle. “We meet the finalists, conduct fittings in our office and then decide on the women who will be joining us based on availability and who wears what sizing.”
We make all our shoots into fun, enjoyable experiences for everyone, from the photographer and our social media team to the wonderful women wearing our lingerie. “We provide all hair and makeup on the day and all the women receive a full range of our underwear. We just have a great time all hanging out,” says Danielle.
The exciting news is we will be restocked in all of our ranges and sizes very soon so stay up to date regarding our restock by following our social pages @everydaylingerieco.
Trying to find the right underwear size can be difficult due to different companies making different sizes. To make things easier we have created a step by step guide to take the guess work out of the equation.
Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.
All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate. If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.
Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist. Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.
All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your Full Bust and your Lower or under bust. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.
Your Full Bust is the fullest part of your bust (see image). Ensure that the measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor. Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down
The Lower or Under bust is measured by wrapping the measuring tape around your rib cage directly under your bust (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down
