Today we're going behind the scenes with Tash.
Well, my name is Tash and I'm 27 years old and I work in various jobs. I have quite a lot of hats that I put on. With working in the university in health promotion and working retail. More recently I have been exploring the self-love journey of modelling and lingerie and seeing where that will take me as well.
What made you decide to apply for the Everyday Lingerie Co Model Search?
Applying for the ELC Model Search was a step where I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. It was I'm exploring myself love journey. I never would have thought I would do this. If you asked me three years ago to model undies, I would have laughed and walked away. So doing this is definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone. I didn't love my body for a very, very long time. And more recently, there was a moment in my life where it clicked that I wanted to no longer experienced this hatred towards my body. I wanted to accept my body and show it the love that it deserves, as it's given me so much to do in the last 27 years. So I wanted to explore that. And definitely applying for the ELC Model Search is definitely pushing me towards that journey, but also allowing me to jump out of my comfort zone too.
What age did you become confident in your skin?
For me personally, it was probably at the age of 25 that I started. And it's kind of scary to say that for the last 25 years that I didn't love my body. But I'm so excited that I'll have this new chapter to definitely start that journey and love my body and love that everything that it can do for me.
What is 1 word you would use to describe yourself?
One word though that I would use to describe myself is probably kind. Whenever my friends and my family are around me, I definitely show kindness towards them. A lot of people have always expressed that whenever they are in a state that they are struggling in, that my support for them, showing them compassion and kindness, has definitely helped them along their journey.
What is your favourite body part and why?
For me, my favourite body part are my breasts. I wouldn't be saying that to you three years ago, and more recently I have started to accept my breast size and how much it's done for me in my life. I'm so excited that I have the body and the size that I have, to showcase to many women the importance of loving your breasts, finding the right cup, finding the right bra for your breast size as well. Breast cancer journey as well is something that I'm very passionate about. I've recently created an annual event called the Breast Friend Brunch, where I empower women to build a relationship with their breasts so that they are building a best friend relationship. Hence why it's called Breast Friend Brunch. And it's been such a wonderful achievement to see so many women step out and learn about their body, love their body, and move forward in checking in their breasts and getting fitted for the right size bra as well.
Which style represents you best; Brief, Boyleg or G String and why?
For me personally, a boyleg is my favourite option. With me running around between jobs, going through gym, going to other jobs. A bamboo boyleg is definitely my favourite option. It gives a lot of comfort, and allows me to do everything that I need to do in my day.
Trying to find the right underwear size can be difficult due to different companies making different sizes. To make things easier we have created a step by step guide to take the guess work out of the equation.
Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.
All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate. If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.
Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist. Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.
Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.
