When can I buy my everyday Bamboo underwear?

Happy New Year!

As 2021 began and the first days have trickled in, I have had time to reflect to when I started this journey around 8 years ago. I love reminiscing on the optimism and excitement I had; in my mind it was all so simple. I saw an issue I needed solved and when no other underwear company could fix it, I decided that I was going to do it myself. My thought was “Watch me”.

Back then I thought it would all fall together quickly. I would simply get my designs on paper, meet someone who would magically make them appear, then I’d sell them to the world and overnight my brand would revolutionize the underwear industry. Bippity Boppity Booty!

Looking back now, I see that I had no idea how to make this happen, and in reality, I didn’t have the knowledge or the connections so early in the journey. Starting this idea in my dining room with some pieces of fabric and trim being sticky taped to some mood boards and with the notion that 12-18 months’ time we would be ready to sell. In reality, it was a different timeline all together, but one that has helped shape both ELC and myself.

In this time, I have worked with some of the most incredible people who I have meet through various avenues and each one of them truly got their hearts (and bottoms) behind my brand and helped me along the way.

When people ask what I do and I tell them I started my bamboo underwear label, most of the time the first question is “Wow that amazing, was it easy to start?” To which my standard response always seems to come out “No, it’s not easy. You have to be prepared for so many challenges and setbacks and be prepared to learn a lot along the way. So no, it’s not easy, but it has been damn rewarding”.

One of the hardest challenges we have faced since we started from those humble beginnings was finding an ethical supply chain that can produce our bamboo underwear that was both of a high-quality standard and their supply chain was one that I can stand behind and how the workers are treated and looked after. This was and always will be a priority to ELC.

Initially, we commenced work with a company in China. This was great because if gave us the ability to launch, find our feet and finally start covering all the bottoms we had dreamed of covering. During COVID, seeing an increase in sales, we discovered we were going to have to order more stock as our underwear had grown in popularity and almost sold out. Unfortunately, the quality of garments we had now seen in our second shipment had flaws. To most people, they would not have noticed, but for me personally I was not ok delivering to customers garments that they potentially would have an issue over time.

Everyday Lingerie Co as a brand is committed to producing garments that are of a high quality so we can help reduce our footprint by our customers getting great wear out every garment they purchase from us and, in turn, purchase less underwear that will end up in landfill. To many this may seem like a weird move for a business who makes money from selling garments. But this is something we are committed to, and that is ensuring we help reduce our footprint and protect our planet for future generations as much as we can.

We also had received feedback from not only all our models, but also from customers across 5 countries who have purchased our products and we wanted to do some updates to our range.  We made the decision that now, whilst we looked for a new ethical factory to work with, to take the time to complete the updates to ensure we bought to our customers the highest quality bamboo underwear that aligned with our 3 design principles: comfort, support, and breathability.

The updates we have implemented include

  • an upgraded waist trim that is softer and more flexible and loving on the body,
  • the main fabric has been updated to a higher quality and
  • the overall designs have been slightly altered to offer more coverage in some areas.

We have been lucky enough to have been wearing some samples for the last month and they are everything we hoped for and more, my buns have never been so happy!

Thank you to all our amazing customers. You have been patiently waiting for our stock to arrive and we are almost there! COVID has created delays and challenges, but that news is as old as 2020. The good news is our Bamboo underwear in all 3 styles; Boyleg, Brief and G String, are all in the final stages of being manufactured, with stock arriving within the next few months. Oh, and you'll be happy to know that all ELC underwear is now Australian made, right here in Melbourne!

And can I let you in on a secret, because I am dying to tell you? We will also have a new piece that will be added to the collection and we can’t wait to share more about this in the coming months.  Be sure to follow us on our social media pages to stay up to date on the new stock arrivals.

Thank you again and we hope phase 2 of the Everyday Lingerie Co bamboo underwear range has you falling in love all over again with great everyday underwear.

Stay Safe,

Danielle

Sizing

Trying to find the right underwear size can be difficult due to different companies making different sizes. To make things easier we have created a step by step guide to take the guess work out of the equation.

Below we have measuring instructions with images to assist you.

Finding your size in our Underwear Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your waist, your lower waist and your hips. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.  If possible stand in front of a mirror when taking your measurements to ensure that the measuring tape is also parallel to the floor and is flat.

Measurement 1: Your waist

Your waist is the natural in indentation above your hips or just below your rib cage (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 2: Your Lower Waist

Your lower waist is approx. 12cm down from your waist.  Take your measuring tape and run this down from your waist to 12cm (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around this area firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down.

Measurement 3: Your hips

Now wrap the soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips, this is approximately 25cm below your waist (see image). Use the mirror to check that your measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor – write this measurement down.

Finding your size in our Crop Top Bralette Range:

All you need to do is take a couple of simple measurements; your Full Bust and your Lower or under bust. The best way to do this is by using a soft measuring tape and a mirror to ensure you are accurate.

Measurement 1: Your Full Bust

Your Full Bust is the fullest part of your bust (see image). Ensure that the measuring tape is completely straight and parallel to the floor. Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down

Measurement 2: Your Lower or Under Bust

The Lower or Under bust is measured by wrapping the measuring tape around your rib cage directly under your bust (see image). Wrap the soft measuring tape around firmly without pitching your skin together – write this measurement down
